Arts and Artisan Crafts at the Cheney Homestead

Following the artistic traditions of the Cheney family, the Cheney Homestead will offer ongoing art classes for both children and adults beginning in July.

Summer classes for ages nine and up are scheduled for the week of July 22 and will include opportunities for printmaking in the morning and landscape drawing in the afternoon on the Cheney grounds.

Autumn classes will be held in the Homesteadís historic north light studio and will focus on a systematic approach to classical drawing techniques common to 19th Century realism.

Classes are scheduled for Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday mornings from 9:30-12:30 and will include a class in observational drawing appropriate for home-schooled children.

See Class Description page for details. Dates and times are also listed on the "Upcoming Events" page of this website.

Instructor, Trudy M. Mitchell, is a retired educator with over 30 years of experience in teaching children and adults. She has studied classical drawing and painting for the last six years at Wethersfield Academy for the Arts. For further information, please feel free to contact her at TrudyMMitchell@comcast.net.
