Branch Road to South Manchester
Hartford Daily Courant, May 22, 1869

It is perhaps not generally known that a branch railroad is being built from Manchester station on the Hartford and Providence road, to South Manchester, a distance of two and a half miles. This enterprise was started by the Messrs. Cheney, who are always forward in every good work, and will be a great advantage to the public of Cheneyville. A gang of workmen is now busily engaged in laying the track, one mile of which is already in place, and in about a month the road will be in running order.
